Please join us at the Ernest Balmer Studio on Friday, May 24, 2019 7:00PM as the Korean Dance Studies Society of Canada kicks-off its newest presentation the ‘Sooryu Series’. Complimenting our biannual celebration of Korean traditional dance, the Sooryu Series invites all and everyone who are compassionate about the studies of Korean traditions. Starting off in May 2019, Sooryu Series is excited to present you the intimate look at the differences in Jango-chum, a dance accompanied by the Korean drum ‘Jango’. In specific, Part I of the Sooryu Series 2019 travels throughout the Korean peninsula with a focus lens onto the artistic differences seen on the Jango-chum from North to South. To all who are interested in learning more about Korean Traditional Dance and its practices, you are welcomed to sit in and be among our KDSSC artists as we perform the Jango-chum.
With Artistic Director Mi Young Kim, join us for a night of special performances by Constance Chang representing the Southern style & Minseo Kim representing the Northern style.
For a night of drum and dance, be part of our kick-off celebration of Sooryu Series.
Please look out for more and various other schools of focus as throughout the year the Sooryu Series brings you closer to the core of Korean heritage dance and how its culture thrives and dances in Canada.
