Spring Dance Recital and International Dance Day Performance

KDSSC's preprofessional training students will participate in International Dance Day Celebration at Dundas Square on May 2. On the same day at night, KDSSC's Spring Dance Recital will take place at the Korean Cultural Centre. preprofessional training students will present their original choreographies.

Guest performance at the Canadian International Military Tattoo

This year theme for the Canadian International Military Tattoo will be the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy and the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. The Mi Young Kim Dance Company will represent the connection between Korea and Canada at the show.

2010 Soo Ryu Dance Festival

Special guest artist: Keum Hwa Kim (master shaman and a desinated National Cultural Treasure of South Korea)

Keum Hwa Kim, is a master shaman and a pioneer in putting traditional shaman rituals onto professional stage as an art. She represented Korean and made her mark through her contribution to anthropology, working with Claude Levi–Strauss, the Royal Anthropological Institute, the Smithsonian Institute and others. She was awarded the title of National Cultural Treasure in 1984, and her p'ungoche was designated an Intangible National Cultural Property. Since then she has performed all over the world. Her more recent appearances were in Paris (2002), Hawaii (2002) and at the Lincoln Centre (2003).
